The course opened for play in July 2007 and is the first course to be specifically built for a Ryder Cup Tournament and will be the home of the 38th Ryder Cup in September 2010. The par 71 course measures 7,493 yards and has been designed to test the worlds top golf professionals. It has water hazards on half of its holes, has six signature holes and presents many more memorable tests and risk-and-reward dilemmas.

One of the features of the spectacular course is its variety, with many of the earlier holes having a links-like feel with long rough and greenside swales. The middle section of the course reveals the full extent of the lake-lined challenge.

The course was designed by European Golf design and construction work commenced in September 2004 and was completed on time within 2 years.
